Ron Singer Business Development Fund

Ron Singer
Jan 23, 1956 – Dec 22, 2014

Ron’s career in the trucking industry started in 1966, logging at least four million (almost incident-free) miles under over 40 years. He held several positions working for his father’s construction trucking business. He started out as a driver and equipment operator progressing to a mechanic, welder, driver trainer, supervisor, and finally an operations manager. In 1973 his father retired, he purchased a truck for his new company and started his career as an owner operator. He purchased several more trucks during his owner operator career and operated throughout Canada and the U S. In 1978 he incorporated and became a fleet operation company named Ron Singer Truck Lines Ltd. Since then his company has diversified and become a custom supply and haul, dry bulk and construction trucking operation. As the company president, Ron was a hands-on kind of guy. He had driven several different configurations of truck and trailer combinations and operate several types of heavy equipment. He chose to be close to the action; to remain current and up to date regarding the relevant issues within his company and the industry. He was a second-generation trucker grooming the third.

Ron’s passion was trucking and standing by the little guy – he was the first to hire owner operators. Combined with a passion and affinity for hard working people, he was always rooting for the underdog… and always in a battle for truckers; to make sure they were treated with respect, and to help them understand what the pride of what being a professional driver meant. Those who remember Ron, also have that in their blood.
